If you’ve been down in the dumps with all the Spring showers… maybe all our new brews will cheer you up. Some weeks are quieter than others, but I think we hit the jackpot this time around with TEN new craft beers on our shelves. We look forward to getting new stuff in every week, and I hope it brightens your week as much as it does ours!
DID YOU EVER THINK THAT MAYBE THERE’S MORE TO LIFE THAN DRINKING BEER?
Yeah, as long as I’m also really, really ridiculously good looking while doing it. Alright — if you don’t get the movie references, watch Zoolander (better yet, watch it with this beer in your hand). We’ve got another collab for you guys, and this time Parkside Brewing and Backcountry Brewing put their heads together to create their “Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking” Yuzu Ginger Maibock. Large and in-charge, this lager is full-bodied with ginger and citrus. If you’re looking for something a bit different from the regular old ginger beer, this is the beer for you. Hurry, we’re already on our last couple of 4-packs!
LOVE BUZZED ON STRATHCONA BEER
Maybe you’ve been acquainted with Strathcona already, or maybe this is your first encounter. Either way, this brew proves to take first place in my books. As a follow-up on their previous Cherry Sour and a part of their Love Buzz Series, they have recently introduced their Love Buzz Grapefruit Strawberry Sour. It is tart and balanced in flavour with lighter but full flavours of grapefruit and strawberry. It’s everything you want and more in your sour; a little bit of a kick but with a whole lot of sour. Get it in a 4-pack or a single can… whatever your pick, get it quick!
PULL YOUR HIGH SOCKS UP, YOU’RE IN FOR A RIDE
Much like many of Twin Sails’ beers, we are always waiting for them to come back around… I guess they keep us on our toes. The High Socks Mosaic IPA is back and it’s just as good as we remember it. Single-hopped with Mosaic hops, this hazy IPA has a light malt base that lets the fruitiness of the hop shine and a dry finish to top it all off. You might want to pull up your high socks, throw on your kicks and head on over to pick up one of these guys. Beer is a gift. Don’t take it for granted.
HOYNE US FOR A BEER?
Two of our newest and beautiful brews in this week are from Hoyne Brewing located not far from us in Victoria, BC. Alpha Acid IPA is juicy as ever, dry-hopped with Idaho 7, El Dorado and Azacca hops. With a little bit of wheat and a whole lot of tropical, this hazy IPA is the newest staple item in your fridge… and don’t worry - it’s not a limited release! Next, their Carte Blanche White IPA is loaded with aromatics of peach, passion fruit, melon and grapefruit. The flavour is big, not too bitter and tastes of its wheaty character which is incredibly refreshing paired with the tropical fruit hops.
BEER THAT HITS CLOSE TO HOME
Fieldhouse Brewing in Abbotsford has definitely not taken a Spring Break… they’ve been blessing us with new brews left and right and here’s some more to introduce you to. First, their Hazy Field IPA, which is a part of their new Farmland Series. This beer is made with their very own barley, local Centennial, Cashmere, and Comet hops, and even coriander that they grew themselves. Does it get more local than that? No, and it helps that it happens to be dang good with those tropical and citrus notes. Next, their Tropical White Ale with Lemongrass is a Belgian Wit with added lemongrass and galangal to give it a citrusy zest and piney aroma. All around fruity and refreshing, like any good Spring brew.
LIL’ RED ISN’T SO LITTLE ANYMORE…
Townsite brought more beer for us and more Lil’ Red, too (except this time, not so little). There are two new members of the family that we would like to introduce you to. Lil’ Red 5.0 is a new take on Lil’ Red 3.0 — this time bigger, and maybe even better depending on who you ask. Lil’ Red 5.0 is a Foeder-Aged Belgian Red Sour. Essentially, they blended and aged a kettle sour Saison and a Belgian Dubbel in a foeder and out came a wild sour ale. Their Suncoast Pale Ale is a crushable, smooth and crisp session beer made for casual drinking to refresh you after a day on the coast. Be daring and try them both, find your taste!
ODIN’S DRAGON SERIES, BACK AT IT AGAIN
Odin Brewing’s newest addition to their Dragon Series is the Sonic Sea Dragon IPA. This beer is not just for those looking to sail the seas and slay some dragons, but for those of us that just would like to slay some beers for refreshment. Lucky for those of us, this brew is Spring in a can with its floral notes with subtle pine, added with a juicy punch of dank tropical fruit flavours. This hazy IPA has a malty sweet start and a little bit of bitterness to balance it all out. Who knows, you might feel ready to slay a dragon after drinking this bad boy. Who’s up for the challenge?
If you have any suggestions on the products we feature, or information that you wish we would post with the blog as well, feel free to reach out! Don’t forget that there is always the option to suggest some brews if you’d like to see something else that we don’t have! See you next week!
